Can you figure out what it similar about these book covers?

Yes, that was meant to be sarcastic. Obviously you can tell the similarity between these covers. Don't get me wrong, I think the graphic they used it really pretty and I can understand why they used it. But there so many of them. And I just keep stumbling across more. I do like how the different cover designs use the paper-y graphic in different ways. In some it looks burned, in others it's soft and filmy.
But again, there are so many of them.
If I run across any more, I'll post them up.

Are they all from the same publisher? They kinda look like they could be and that could be that publisher's "thing".
ReplyDeleteI had never seen any of these before. It's so funny to watch the trends in book covers...for me personally, I had never really noticed the number of couples holding hands on book covers until that's what I chose for my own cover art...then, of course, I started to notice them and there are so many! Another popular theme right now is people underwater on book covers...I've seen at least a dozen in the last week. I'll be on the look-out for more of these, too! Have a great weekend, and thanks for joining the October paranormal reading challenge, it's great to have you. :-)
ReplyDeleteThings like this just freak me out. It makes me sad for the authors of those books where their covers end up looking so much like another cover. Luckily they have different base images so I don't think its as bad. It's when the SAME image is used - now that's just sad.
ReplyDelete@Ricki: I'm not sure actually. I didn't think so, but maybe I'll look into that.
ReplyDelete@SweetMarie: Thank you! And yeah, I've noticed trends. I really don't mind them though. I just think it's neat how many have the same photo or graphic. And hey, if it works for them, then it works. :)
@Pabkins: I don't mind them if they put a spin on it that's all their own. That's why I really don't mind the ones posted above. I just thought it was interesting. But I can definitely see where you're coming from. I'm not sure how I would feel about it if I were the author of one of them, though.
